Privacy notice

Version 2026-10-ID. Please read this before you register. It explains what ROS2Lab stores about you, why, and for how long.

Who runs ROS2Lab

ROS2Lab is a free online ROS 2 course run by its course instructor (Department of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Engineering, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte). Questions, corrections or complaints: prasadprabhu@nitte.edu.in.

What we collect, and why

  • Account: your name, email address and password (the password is handled by Google Firebase; we never see it). Why: so you can sign in.
  • College details: college, department, current semester, USN and year of passing out. Why: to check that you are a current engineering student.
  • College details: college, department, current semester, USN and year of passing out. Why: so your instructor knows who is taking the course.
  • College ID card photo: Why: only to check your college details. It is deleted as soon as it is checked, and at the latest after 30 days.
  • Course activity: lessons opened and completed, study time, test questions, your answers, timings and scores, and a test activity log (leaving the test page, copy or paste attempts, leaving full screen). Why: to run the course, show your progress and keep tests fair.

We do not collect your phone number, address, date of birth or Aadhaar.

Never upload Aadhaar, PAN, a driving licence or a passport; only your college ID card is accepted. You may cover your home address, phone number, blood group and any barcode on the card.

We do not use advertising or tracking tools, and we never sell or share your data.

Who can see it

Only you (your own data) and the course instructor. Data is stored with Google Cloud (Firebase) in Mumbai, India, which processes it for us under its terms.

How long we keep it

  • ID card photo: until it is checked, at most 30 days.
  • Detailed test answers and activity logs: about 6 months after the course ends.
  • Your account, details and progress: while you use the course, and at most 12 months after your year of passing out.

Your choices and rights

You can see and correct your details on the registration page until they are approved, and by email afterwards. You can delete your account and all your data at any time from My account, or ask us by email. You can also ask what data we hold or raise a complaint at the address above.
